He was educated at Langley Park School for Boys. Upon leaving Langley Park in 1996, he joined Stevensons Heating, as an apprentice gas fitter. Whilst working for Stevensons he was studying at Croydon College for his NVQ and achieved passes at all levels. He was selected to take part in the BPEC Young Plumber of the year in 2000, the first person to represent Croydon for several years.
